Weather won again! We got a good start but had to stop digging due to rain. Hopefully, we can resume work tomorrow Friday May 22, 2020. To be very clear: you will not need to boil until we shut the water off to make the connections. At that time, we will issue a boil alert for affected persons. I will text, email and hang a yellow tag on your door. From then until you are advised different all water for consumption will need to be brought to a rolling boil for 5 minutes and then allowed to cool. The water will be okay for everything other than consumption, washing clothes, showers anything but consuming is okay. I am told now that we must allow 48 hours for testing. Probably due to the corona virus, I am about as tired of that as the weather.

Weather permitting, we are hoping to start work tomorrow Wednesday May 20, 2020. The plan is to dig a new trench put the new line in place, then shut off the water and make the connections. Issue a boil alert for the homes that were shut off and turn the water back on. I can’t be sure if we will be able to do the connection tomorrow with the rain or if we will get everything in place and do the hook up on another day. I will let you know via text, email and door tags when we shut the water off, so you will know when to begin using your bottled water or boiling.
Again, only those homes with a Mill Street address in addition to 91, 97 and 119 East Main Street will be affected by the shut off. However, anytime we disturb any of the water system there is a chance of everyone seeing rusty or discolored water, that is safe to drink but not very appealing.

The Village is going to replace a section of water line at the end of Mill Street. We are hoping to get a dry day later this week to do the work. Residents on Mill Street will be without water for a few hours, barring any unexpected problems. However, you will have to boil drinking water for 24 hours after the repair is complete. I would recommend stocking up on bottled water or filling some milk cartons or water jugs prior to the repair. I will give you another notice 24 hours prior to the repair. If you would like to get up the minute alerts send me an email to email@example.com
This will only affect residents on Mill Street
